Season Finale - Preview
Gulf ProCar Class Championship fights expected to go down the wire at Yas Marina Circuit for final event of the year.
Round 6 will showcase the normal two races, plus the postponed race from the previous visit in Yas in January. With a grid of 30 cars taking to the track its a great way to end the season!
With the last two races attracting double points, and with the two lowest results from the year dropped, nothing is for certain in some classes, and also for overall Champion!
In Class 2 James Geddie Ferrari 488 Challenge EVO has been consistent and is leading this class but with a total of five Ferrari 488 Challenge EVO entered there are some competitors to steal some points away from him. Mohammed Al Hammadi (Porsche GT3 Cup) has a strong position in second place, but third, at the moment in the hands of his teammate Wolfgang Reinl is up for grabs. THe Austrian driver missed a few rounds due to business commitments making newcomer and other Ferrari driver Jan Sandmann a candidate for this spot with Maya Hartge an outsider.
Class 3 is already confirmed for Andrey Solukovtsev who had very consistent outings in the Toyota GR Supra GT4.
A lot would have to go wrong for Ahmad Al Majid (Toyota GT 86) to let the title slipping out of his hands in Class 4, and nothing is confirmed for teammate Scott Dimeler, as Avik Anwar is closing in for that second place. But one thing is for sure it will be a full Toyota GT86 podium in Class 4.
Although not having the easiest season it is Ricky Coomber (Honda FD2) who will be confirmed champion in Class 5.
Class RC turns out to be a battle between three, all driving with Track Time Racing, its going down the wire with Willie Morrison leading followed by Craig Thompson and Kenny Murray.
Two contenders are enough to have a great battle, as is shown in Class TCR with now Alexandros Annivas (Cupta TCR) leading with René Münnich (Honda TCR) putting all the pressure.
Besides Class honours there is also the overall championship to fight for where the top three for the moment is Ahmad Al Majid, closely followed by James Geddie and then the fight for third place is very open.
All with be revealed by end of play on Saturday night (11th March) under the flood lights of Yas Marina Circuit.
